Community Guidelines
AquaCoda is a peaceful, welfare-first community of Betta owners contributing to citizen science. These guidelines describe how we participate.

At a glance
At a glance
- Observation is non-invasive — never stress your fish.
- Language is careful; uncertainty is acknowledged.
- No comments — structured label suggestions instead.
- Report anything that looks harmful or misleading.
What we value
- Respectful, non invasive, scientific observation of your own fish.
- Careful language and acknowledged uncertainty.
- Curiosity about behavior rather than judgment of owners.
What we do not allow
- Harassment, personal attacks, or hostile behavior toward other members.
- Harmful advice, including encouragement to stress or provoke fish.
- Medical diagnosis claims. AquaCoda is not a veterinary service.
- Misleading labels, staged observations, or content that isn't your own tank.
Why we don't have open comment threads
AquaCoda focuses on structured observation, not debate. Instead of comments, community members can suggest labels on an observation and reviewers can process them. This keeps discussion constructive and useful for the dataset.
Reporting concerns
If you see an observation that seems harmful, misleading, or violates these guidelines, use the report button on the observation detail page. Reports are triaged by the moderation team.
Moderation
Moderators may hide observations, decline label suggestions, or contact members privately. Repeated violations may lead to account suspension.
